Education: Must have a license to touch and must have a background on massaging therapy. You must go through training of 2-3 years or 6-10 years.

Reflection: Would you like to be one? Why? Why not?

I wouldn’t like to be one because I would be afraid to hurt the person more when they need the massage to recover from pain. I would like to have a craniosacral massage though! J

Auricular Therapy

Online Research:

Go online. Look for and provide the following information. Publish your information as a new post in your Electronic Portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities: Auricular therapy is a type of acupuncture for the ear. Conditions affecting the physical, mental, or emotional health of the patient are assumed to be treatable by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively. The purpose of this treatment is for people to deal with and recover from substance abuse. Certain pressure points in the ear can relieve one’s stress, anxiety, excessive sensitivity, hepatitis, etc.

Salary: $38,000-$137,000

Education: The training and education requirement for acupuncture technicians is 70 hours, 30 hours of classroom work and 40 hours of supervised hands-on acupuncture work in a clinic.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I don’t think I would like to be one because I’m not good around needles and especially around the ear because the ear is really sensitive in my opinion.

Go Online. Look for and provide the following information. Publish your information as a new post in your Electronic Portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities: Acupuncture professionals are trained to treat the entire individual rather than the specific illness or condition. They take into account a patient's physical, mental and emotional condition in order to determine the proper course of treatment. In addition to providing acupuncture therapy, practitioners help their patients achieve balance and wellness in their everyday lives.

Salary: $60-120 per treatment, $45,000- $100,000, $200,000-300,000

Education: Most licensed acupuncturists hold master's degrees or post-baccalaureate certificates from schools accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. As the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine explains, most programs require 1,500-2,000 hours of acupuncture training and take 3-4 years to complete. Graduates must pass the certification exam offered by NCCAOM and fulfill any additional state licensing requirements.

In my opinion I wouldn’t like to be an acupuncturist because I’m afraid of needles and if I handle one I’m going to freak out! Even though they get a good amount of money I wouldn’t like to be one anyways. So I’m saying no I prefer to be a doctor. J
